Sys Admin Technical Conference — Speakers
| Richard Bejtlich, TaoSecurity |
 |
Richard Bejtlich is founder of TaoSecurity, a company that helps clients detect,
contain, and remediate intrusions using Network Security Monitoring (NSM)
principles. He was formerly a principal consultant at Foundstone — performing
incident response, emergency NSM, and security research and training — and
created NSM operations for ManTech International Corporation and Ball Aerospace & Technologies
Corporation. For three years, Bejtlich defended U.S. information assets as
a captain in the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT). Formally
trained as an intelligence officer, he is a graduate of Harvard University
and of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has authored or coauthored several
security books, including The Tao of Network Security Monitoring (Addison-Wesley,
2004). |

Æleen Frisch has been a systems administrator for over 25 years, tending
a plethora of VMS, Unix, and Windows systems over the years. Her current system

and occasional database programmer. She has written eight books, including
Essential System Administration (now in its third edition). |

Tom Limoncelli has been a systems administrator and network engineer since
1987; he speaks at conferences around the world on topics ranging from firewall
security to time management. He is the author of Time Management for System
Administrators from O'Reilly and, along with Christine Hogan, co-author of
the book The Practice of System and Network Administration from Addison-Wesley.

| Randal L. Schwartz, Stonehenge Consulting Services |
 |
Randal L. Schwartz is a two-decade veteran of the software industry — skilled
in software design, system administration, security, technical writing, and
training. He has coauthored the "must-have" standards: Programming
Perl, Learning Perl, Learning Perl for Win32 Systems, and Effective
Perl Programming, as well as writing regular columns for WebTechniques, UnixReview,
Sys Admin, and Linux magazines. He's also a frequent contributor to the Perl
newsgroups and the "Perl Monestary" community (perlmonks.org),
and has moderated comp.lang.perl.announce since its inception. His offbeat
humor and technical mastery have reached legendary proportions worldwide
(but he probably started some of those legends himself). Randal's desire
to give back to the Perl community inspired him to help create and provide
initial funding for The Perl Institute. He is also a founding board member
of the Perl Mongers (perl.org), the worldwide Perl grassroots advocacy organization.
Since 1985, Randal has owned and operated Stonehenge Consulting Services,
Inc. |
